Pathlight Schools in Singapore

Singapore does well in providing education for its students, and especially for special needs students. In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of SPED schools to support such students. While Singapore may not be completely ready for true inclusion to happen, it is with great hope and encouragement that these schools shall help our little ones.

One such school is Pathlight. Pathlight School offers the national curriculum with life skills for students aged 7 to 18, with additional support to ensure learners get access to the curriculum (Pathlight School, 2026). While many SPED schools in Singapore offer a simplified curriculum, Pathlight is one of the few that teach the MOE Primary and Secondary School syllabi.

Currently, the school has 3 branches; Campus 1 and 2 are in Ang Mo Kio, while the third school is in Tampines. One of the Ang Mo Kio schools, Campus 2, will be relocated to Punggol in 2032.

However, there are admission criteria for students to fulfil before they can be registered with the school.

Singaporean children will be given priority access to school admission, and the child must be formally diagnosed with autism, with skills that include sufficient non-verbal cognitive skills, literacy and verbal skills to handle Singapore’s national curriculum, and the child must have good joint attention and self-help skills to follow group teaching, with expected feeding and toileting skills (Pathlight School, 2026).

The ARC Learning Academy within Pathlight also offers courses for individuals with Autism, parents, caregivers, and professionals.

For students with Autism, they have access to Adulting 101 courses to learn about fixing things at home, cooking, exercise, security, or learning to manage money; whereas for parents and caregivers, they can learn about managing behaviour or education of their children; and lastly, for professionals, they can learn about handling individuals with Autism (ARC Learning Academy, 2026).
